2026 Brigantes Winter Gathering - Newcastle-upon-Tyne
The 2026 Brigantes Winter Gathering will take place on Friday 4 December in the vibrant city of Newcastle Upon Tyne for the first time. With our AGM, Lecture, Reception and Supper in the Victorian Grandeur of the County Hotel, followed by a special Patronal Festival Concert in the 900 year old Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas.
The Brigantes Winter Gathering is open to all Liverymen of the City of London, accompanied by one guest each if desired allocated on a first come first served basis. Dress is lounge suits and Badges of Office may be worn.
The Brigantes AGM will commence at 2.15pm in the County Hotel, directly opposite the main railway station in the County Suite. This will be followed at 3pm by our Winter Lecture, ‘Our City Our County - 100 years of the Northumberland and Newcastle Society’ given by John Matthews, N&N Past Chairman and Society Archivist. Afterwards, from 4.15pm, will be our drinks reception followed by an early evening supper in the Mozart Room at 5.00pm, before we walk to the Cathedral (8 mins on level pavements) for the start of the Concert at 7.30pm .
The cost for the 2026 Winter Gathering is £115.00 per person. A Pour Memoire will be sent out a few weeks before the event with final details.
If you would like to stay overnight on Friday, we have two hotels giving their best available rates including breakfast. The County Hotel, our base, and the Hampton by Hilton Hotel next door. All rooms are limited availability, so early booking is advised.
We expect the Concert will conclude at about 9.30 pm, following which Brigantians and guests will be most welcome at the County Hotel for a convivial nightcap or three. We very much look forward to seeing you there.
